I had previously had my hair cut and colored and the guy really messed it up. I have fine hair and it is thin, he put giant layers in it. I usually get long layers with it tapered towards my face. My first layer is chin length and really chunked in there then the next layer is like 4 inches below and not as chunked then the end of my hair about 2 inches below that. I have what I have had referred to as a level 7 blonde natural color, he put this color on that was dark brown all over first then put in highlights underneath and ribbons on top, and now it is fading at the top near my roots the dark color has turned this orangy red and the bottom reddish brown, the highlights aren't too blonde anymore, more of a light orangy color, anyway, it's the worst job anyone has done on my hair and should I seek professional help, as I am new in town and scared someone else will really screw it up too. Maybe even worse. Or is there something I can do at home to maybe tone down the ugliness???
I have posted previously about finding a good stylist in my area, but I have another question about my hair...
you can use a dye at home product to dye it all 1 color

I highly agree with the first person, die it one color with the at home product, you can get it at Wal Mart and any drug store.

you can go to the beauty supply store and get a hair stripper chemical and take the color out of your hair and then reverse the process by buying a filler and then a color you like and can live with or one close to your natural color, but stay away from the ash tones they will tint your hair with a greenish tone.
Good luck...you could also just go to a salon for a consultation and they will tell you what they need to do...ask questions, take notes get a price quote, tell them wow that sounds like a lot of chemical processing and you'll think about it and go to the beauty supply store and by the stuff and do it yourself. It's an expensive process doing it at a salon.

it's possible it may be your water (orange)...sometimes a person needs to establish honesty w/ their hairdresser instead of musical chairs...I'd go back and ask to please fix this problem

It would be a good idea to find reputable stylist in your area.
I recommend looking on the main streets in your downtown area because they tend to have more up to date stylists and colorists.
You will have to have corrective color. You should speak with someone who is familiar with correcting botched jobs.
The reason I say for you not to do it yourself, is, well, you could make it worse.
Be prepared to pay for what you get for. Explain what you have in mind and find out if it's possible for you to get what you are expecting but be realistic.
Best.
