I'm a guy w/ long hair and my hair stylist is retarded!! Help!!?!?

Okay, here's the deal. My hair's shoulder-length w/ bangs reaching my chin...time for a haircut!! However, i wanna keep it long but looking nice. I told the cosmetologist lady @ the local barbershop to "layer" my hair. All she did was trim one inch off of each and every hair!! Thanks for taking away the split-ends, but other than that, it still looks the SAME!! (not layered). Are there any tips you guys or girls have for me on how to tell the person more specifically how to cut it next time. If you have tips for ME on how to cut it, that works too. Thanks! =)

Take a picture for her to get an idea of how you want it cut. There are also different types of layers, there are long layers and short layers...I think the short ones show more, everytime I have had long layers, I never noticed them. I'm a gurl and I like chunks of layers everywhere. If you have a JC pennie around you, I suggest you go to the salon there. The haircuts cost about 40 dollars for a cut, shampoo and style but it's worth it and you actually notice a difference in your hair.

I've seen stylist layered girls hair but not a dudes hair. if you don't have that much go to my stylist if you're in the north county and tell her to cut it short but not bald. something that will help you into a style this century. Report It

Why not try a different place? They might understand you want it layered. Also, tell them that cutting one inch off each and ever hair is not layering it.

Get a new hair-stylist. If you tell them layers, they should give you LAYERS, not just a trim.

I would tell her short so that she would think you only want a little off lol I do that to my hairstylist but it's the opposite with me I have to tell her to cut A LITTLE so she doesnt cut my whole head! Just try to find a picture of what you want and bring it in then you will get exactly what you want works everytime =]

for one if your a guy go to a barber.......ask for layers but not to cut your hair to short.longish layered hair on a guy is so cute!!!!!cosmetoligists are a pain that sometimes.

Whatever you do never cuz your own hair. There are a lot of stylish who dont understand really what you want. Next time you go in just show her a picture of what you want let her get the visual of it. That would probably be your best bet.

hey, i think edgy, choppy layers luk nice on guys, it will make you hair fuller and also low maintenance with a lot of variety with what you can do with it. If you have shorter and longer "random" layers with layers around you face to compliment your bone structure it would look fab ! :D

Totally, tell the stylist that you want a long shag. Your layers won't be too extreme, but they will be noticable.
