Does anybody know of any good hair salons in the chicago area for curly hair?

I am just seeking a hair salon or hair stylist that is in the chicago area who knows how to actually manage and style curly hair. Not just how to straighten hair and cut that. Preferably not somebody who charges like $90 for a cut. Would really appreciate some recommendations.

I can probably help. I work at a salon in Chicago. I can work with curly hair. Email me and I'll give you the details. My prices are better than downtown...

You might try Mario Tricoci. They have a pretty intensive training program for their designers. You could just pop into some of your area salons and take a look around. A hairdresser with hair similar to yours is going to understand what kind of problems you have with getting it cut. We have people come in our salon all the time just to take a look. When they see someone doing the kind of work they like, they feel more comfortable having that designer work on their hair. It's also common in most better salons to provide free consultations. Some will take walk-ins but some still prefer an appointment. Call a salon or two and make an appointment for a consultation with someone who has plenty of experience with curly hair. Once you talk to the designer it will be easier to decide if he/she understands your needs. Then you can make an appointment later if you want to. This way, if you don't like the person that gives you the consultation you're under no obligation. If you're not comfortable saying no thanks you can just say, "Thanks, I'll check my schedule" and be on your way to the next designer. Another suggestion; go to http://www.redken.com and click on Salon Finder There you can find a Redken salon. They provide a tremendous amount of continuing education and you can be sure to find a stylist who can help you. Good luck.
