It's very difficult to describe to a stylist what you want when you don't know the correct terminology and techniques. Not only that, but even hairstylists use different terms to describe them, so you may still end up with a cut you don't want.

Hairstylists are VISUAL people, so the absolute best thing you can do is bring a picture with you, a couple different views of it if possible. Then tell her anything you don't like about the picture. For instance if you want it longer or shorter than it is in the picture.
